CTE Training Institute

The CTE Training Institute (CTE-TI) is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate CTE professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of managing CTE programs across the state of Texas. Completing the CTE-TI is the hallmark of a committed CTE professional.

Objectives:

  • Increase understanding of CTE administrative policies and procedures including legal and ethical practices
  • Provide participants with leadership capabilities to implement effective CTE programs that increase student retention and prepare students for a globally competitive workforce
  • Provide participants with updates and changes occurring in career and technical education
  • Provide resources to strengthen career and postsecondary opportunities
  • Promote awareness about career and technical education including how to build effective business and industry partnerships and increase parental and community involvement
  • Share best practices to further integrate academic and technical skill attainment

CTE Training Institute courses are offered at both annual CTAT events, Education Open Source and the Texas Career Education Conference. CTE professionals who complete either the administration or guidance strands will be honored at the Annual CTAT Awards Luncheon and receive a certificate of completion.

Administration 201

(formerly CTE Program Management Training, Part I)
Monday, February 6

Cost: $195

This rigorous professional development session is designed to provide new CTE directors, administrators and coordinators with the training and resources needed to lead a quality CTE program.

Topics include:
Calendar year for CTE; Understanding the Law, TEC, TAC; PEIMS, Student Accounting Handbook; Perkins IV Requirements and Funding; eGrant, evaluation follow-up; Mentoring program

Guidance specific topics will not be included. Guidance training is available at the summer Texas Career Education Conference.

Administration 301

This rigorous professional development session is designed to provide experienced CTE directors, administrators and counselors with a refresher course in leading a quality CTE program. Topics include business/education partnerships, industry certifications for students, best practices in academic/CTE integration and much more.

Ethics Training for Licensed Professional Counselors

Tuesday, February 7
1:00pm – 4:00pm
Cost: $45

Highlighting real-case scenarios to increase awareness, lower risks and define responsibilities for counselors. Training is based on the ACA Code of Ethics and satisfies the LPC renewal requirement in ethics.
