1:00pm – 4:00pm

Ethics are changing with the advent of technology, and Licensed Professional Counselors in the school counseling/education field need to be aware of what is expected of them now, and how that may have changed with technology.

Encounter real case ethics scenarios for licensed counselors to define legal boundaries, eliminate risk and evolve professional expectations in an increasingly tech-savvy environment.

Topics include:

  • Similarities and differences of the ASCA (School Counselor) Ethics and the LPC ethics
  • How Texas Legislative codes affect you, such as Texas Family Code, Health and Safety Code and the Public Education Code.

Even the most ethical LPC practioner may be faced with litigation, and one of the goals of ethics presentations is to teach practices to lower the risks, as well as maintain the professional standards and practices. The Common Areas of Litigation will be detailed, as well as emphasis on practical ways to eliminate risks.

Becoming aware of risks is the first step to protecting yourself and your career as an LPC. The goal is for you to leave the session with a new awareness of your professional boundaries, responsibilities, and gain peace of mind from that knowledge.
